DC Candlelighter’s hosted its annual Rachel’s Royal Tea Party at the Virginia Run Community Center on April 26th for 20+ little princesses and princes (children undergoing treatment), their siblings and parents. The gathering included a fancy Tea Party with lots of sweet treats and a light lunch, a craft table for the kids with crowns, bags, rockets to decorate, give away tables with items such as Pajamas donated by Amentum, tutus, wands, capes, toys, and art supplies.
The afternoon culminated in a Fashion Show for the parents where the kids modeled princess, dance, and prom outfits for an adoring clapping audience. Parents went home with fancy treat filled Teacups and swag bags.
The event was generously sponsored by the Battlefield Law Group this year. Thanks to Board members Meg Crossett, Co-President, (for whom the event is held in honor of her daughter Rachel), Connie Connor, Jen Teise, and Asia Watson, volunteers from the CVHS Wildcats vs. Cancer and the Young Hearts Foundation, and several adult/family “helpers”, including the former Miss Teen Virginia, who helped to make the day a magical event.
